Is VELO snus?
No. Snus is a moist tobacco product from Sweden, and it cannot legally be sold in the UK. VELO pouches are used the same way, under the top lip, but they hold plant-based fibres, nicotine and flavourings instead of tobacco. That is why you will see them called VELO snus, VELO nicotine pouches or simply VELO pouches: they are all the same product.
VELO strengths and the dots on the can
VELO prints dots on each can to show strength, and the milligram figure is the amount of nicotine in each pouch. Higher strengths deliver more nicotine, and nicotine is highly addictive, so check the dots and mg before you try a new can.
| Dots on the can | Nicotine per pouch | Shop by strength |
|---|---|---|
| 1 dot | 4mg | Low strength |
| 2 dots | 6mg | Low strength |
| 3 dots | 8mg to 10mg | Medium strength |
| 4 dots | 11mg (10.9mg) | Medium strength |
| 5 dots | 14mg | Strong |
| 6 dots | 17mg | Strong |
VELO Slim and VELO Mini
VELO comes in two formats. Slim pouches are long and thin, and a Slim can holds 20 pouches. Mini pouches are smaller, and a Mini can holds 15. Mini cans are made in the lower strengths, such as Bright Spearmint and Purple Grape at 4mg and 6mg, while the strongest 14mg and 17mg cans are all Slim.
VELO flavours
Mint
Freezing Peppermint is VELO’s coldest mint. Crispy Peppermint is a classic, clean peppermint, Bright Spearmint is a gentler spearmint, and Peppermint Storm is menthol-led and strongly cooling.
Fruit and ice
Fruit flavours with a cooling finish include Mango Ice, Peach Ice, Cherry Ice, Strawberry Ice, Tropical Ice, Blueberry Ice, Icy Berries and Wintry Watermelon. For fruit without the chill, try Tropical Mango, Ruby Berry, Purple Grape or Smooth Papaya.
Citrus, warming and tingling flavours
Tangy Lime is a sharp, zesty lime. Orange Spark adds a tingling sensation to orange, while Mango Flame and Lime Flame pair fruit with a warming, heat-style sensation. Spicy Papaya is a limited edition with a gentle warming spice.
VELO’s new names
VELO renamed most of its UK range, so a flavour you know by its old name is still here under a new one:
| Old name | New name |
|---|---|
| VELO Ice Cool | Crispy Peppermint |
| VELO Freeze | Freezing Peppermint |
| VELO Polar Mint | Bright Spearmint |
| VELO Cooling Storm | Peppermint Storm |
| VELO Tropic Breeze | Tropical Mango |
| VELO Royal Violet | Purple Grape |
| VELO Watermelon Mint | Wintry Watermelon |
How to use VELO pouches
Place one pouch under your top lip, against the gum, and leave it there. Most people keep a pouch in for 20 to 60 minutes. Don’t chew or swallow it. When you’re done, put the used pouch in the compartment in the lid and throw it in a bin.
