How we chose what goes in this guide
Plainly: these are not rankings. We hold no sales figures we would be willing to publish as a verdict, and we run no review programme, so any "best nicotine pouches UK" list we produced from popularity would be guesswork dressed up as data. Instead we have grouped our own catalogue by verifiable facts.
Everything below comes from three places: the strength printed on the can, the flavour family the product belongs to, and our shelf price. Where a manufacturer prints nicotine per gram rather than per pouch, we say so and show the conversion. Where published figures disagree, the can wins — check yours before use.
Start with strength, not brand
Strength band is the single most useful filter. Pouches vary from around 4 mg to over 40 mg of nicotine each, and a pouch that suits one person will be unpleasant for another. The bands above the 20 mg mark deserve a note. BSI PAS 8877:2022, the voluntary UK specification, recommends a maximum of 20 mg per pouch, and the Committee on Toxicity referred to that figure in its 2023 statement. There is no legal maximum, so higher-strength products are lawfully on sale — but higher is not an achievement, and it is not where a newcomer should start. By flavour family
Flavour is where most people end up choosing between two cans of the same strength. Our catalogue divides into four broad families, and each brand approaches them differently — mint in particular ranges from a mild spearmint to a cooling agent strong enough to make your eyes water.

Price per can is not the same as price per pouch, because cans hold different numbers. VELO is the one range where we can give a firm figure: Slim cans hold 20 pouches and Mini cans hold 15, so a £4.49 Slim can works out at about 22p a pouch and a Mini at about 30p. By format
Format decides how a pouch feels rather than how strong it is. Slim pouches are the standard: longer, thinner, and the shape most brands build their full strength range around. Mini pouches are shorter and sit less noticeably under the lip, and tend to be offered only at lower strengths.
VELO makes the split clearest — Minis in our range are the 4 mg and 6 mg pouches, while Slims cover the whole 4 mg to 17 mg span. Moisture varies too: drier pouches release more slowly and drip less, moist ones come on faster. Neither is better, and you will not know which you prefer until you try both.
